“Isaac oozes flyboy charm, Boyega, bracingly comic and cunning, is a find, and Ridley (both she and Boyega are Brits) is a star in the making. Rey is the kind of can-do woman of heart and mind who can make a franchise. I’m not just talking marketing. Her scenes with the equally purposeful Leia have a femcentric wit and warmth. The new actors are all aces.” (x)

whats worth bringing up is shmi. padme. breha. jaina. beru. they’re literally all murdered. all of them are dead. all the mothers. padme sees her kids once. we never get to see breha and leia interact properly.

jaina – hans mom doesn’t even get a mention in the films.

they don’t get force ghosts either. so if i want to dare to hope that just for once this franchise is going to priortise a good mother/daughter dynamic then thats what i’m going to do – rey and leia interacting was one of the best parts of tfa i need more and i need them to be happy

#i love sw but they focus so much on the father and the legacy of fathers/father figures when all the skywalkers carry shimi’s name (c/o @hariboo)
