Borrowing stylistic influences not only from the earlier Pre-Raphaelites but also from his contemporaries, the Impressionists, John William Waterhouse’s artworks were known for their depictions of women from both ancient Greek mythology and Arthurian legend.

Tristram and Isolde (1916), The Household Gods (1880), The Siren, Undine (1872), Ariadne (1898), Hylas and the Nymphs (1896), The Awakening of Adonis (1899), A Mermaid (1901), Pandora (1898), Psyche entering Cupid’s Garden (1903), Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus (1900), Boreas (1903)

This is an illustration I did for the August 2014 issue of Popular Science Magazine. The assignment was to show a scifi take on human aging in the future. I wanted to do something relatively positive, so I drew a lady whose life has been been prolonged through cybernetic enhancements and augmentation, so she gets to spend time with her great-great-great-great grandchildren.
